27 January 2016, 13:20

Ukrainian TV channels continue acquiring and adapting successful foreign formats.

On February 1, 21:00, Ukrainian TV channel 1+1 will air the first episode of drama Hozyayka – Ukrainian version of format La Patrona distributed by Telemundo Internacional (USA). Original version of the series was first aired on American TV channel Telemundo in 2013, while its Portuguese version - Santa Bárbara –premiered last September on TVI.

During 24 episodes of the drama series, viewers will see the life of a small provincial town Anikanovo, headed by Alina Hmelevskaya – strong and obsessed with power boss of the diamond mine. Everything belongs to her in this town – both on the ground and under the ground.

The script was adapted by the famous Ukrainian writer Luko Dashvar. The soundtrack was performed by the Ukrainian singer Tina Karol, the coach of Ukrainian The Voice’s 6th season).

On March 8 Ukrainian TV channel Novy will premiere scripted reality series Kyiv Day and Night – adaptation of the popular format Berlin – Tag & Nacht (distributor - All3Media International). 48 episodes are planned to be aired 4 times a week at 22:00.

Kyiv Day and Night is a story about young people who came from different regions of the country to conquer Ukrainian capital. They want a better life. On the way to their dream they encounter difficulties: the betrayal of friends, hunger, risk of losing home roof and problems with law. And the temptations of the capital as well - drugs, easy money, no-string attached relationships. According to the creators, the project can completely rock the heroes’ world and become a real school of survival in the city.

"We kept the idea of the original format, but we made changes that will make the show closer to the Ukrainian mentality. Like it or not – Berlin is completely different city. Ukrainian and German youth are interested in different things, they have different priorities. Our German colleagues told us that Ukrainian shows are mostly about the ideal life of ideal people. But the most important things in our lives happen suddenly: we are dumped by our beloved while drinking tea, we fall in love tying shoelaces, we give up while standing in queue for bread. We will show the truth, the real life", – says Natalya Pyatygina, producer of Kyiv Day and Night.

The original version of the show was produced by Filmpool and first aired in Germany on RTL 2 in September 2011. Soon this format has also been adapted in Bulgaria, Russia, Austria, France, Hungary, Lithuania, Slovakia and other countries. We wish Ukrainian creators to repeat and exceed the success of colleagues.

We continue monitoring the progress of Ukrainian formats abroad as well as local adaptations of popular projects. And hope that Ukrainian TV channels have prepared some more big format premieres for the upcoming Spring season.
