Jean-Yves ROUBIN

Jean-Yves Roubin started very soon as an executive producer, mainly for documentary and fiction features. In 2007, with 7 years of experience, he founded Frakas Productions. His goal is to combine the development of majority features with international co-productions. He aims at producing films that match the expectations of the market without denying cultural diversity, always casting a critical glance at our society. Associating with the Dardenne brothers and Tarantula Belgium, Frakas Productions co-founded Cinéfinance, a Tax Shelter raising company. Cinefinance was bought by Casa Kafka Pictures (an intermediate company co-founded by the RTBF, Belgian television) and linked to Belfius Bank, one of the three most important Belgian banks. As an administrator of Universciné Belgium, Jean-Yves Roubin is a member of its direction board. He is also a member of the ACE network, of EAVE and was a member of the Belgian French Speaking National Film Center’s Film Selection Committee for 4 years. Jean-Yves Roubin is also the co-president of UPFF – the Belgian Producers’ Guild (French speaking part).

Frakas Productions’ latest productions include David Lambert’s "The Third Marriage" and Marta Bergman’s "Alone At My Wedding". Latest coproductions include Katell Quillévéré’s "Heal The Living" (2016), Julia Ducournau’s "Raw" (2016), Serge Bozon’s "Mrs Hyde" and Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s "Daguerrotype". Frakas is currently coproducing "Muse", the new film by Jaume Balaguero (REC).

Directorial debut of Julia Ducournau received training of TorinoFilm Lab, was introduced to Toronto International Film Festival, has got  FIPRESCI prize during International Critics' Week of Cannes Film Festival and a lot of other prizes, successfully screened in the US theaters, has been continuing to be distributed in Europe and is selling to many different territories. Among co-producers of the feature are Petit Film, Rouge International, Wild Bunch, Canal+, Cine+ and others.
